FemHealth Brief: Chrome extension privacy
FemHealth Brief replaces your Chrome new tab with a women's-health research briefing. This page describes what the extension does with your data.
- We do not collect, sell, or share personal data from the extension.
- We do not run analytics, ads, or cross-site tracking in the extension.
- We do not require an account.
- Your focus topics and feed cache stay on your device in
localStorageonly.
What the extension accesses
On each new tab, the extension may call the public Europe PMC REST API at ebi.ac.uk to fetch recent open-access papers. That request sends your search query terms to Europe PMC, not to FemHealth servers. Europe PMC's privacy notice applies to that request: ebi.ac.uk/data-protection.
When you click a link (FemHealth search, Check a Study, funding links, Wikipedia, etc.), you open that site in your browser under its own privacy terms. The main site policy is at femhealth.science/privacy.
What stays on your device
- Feed cache: newest papers list, up to six hours, so the tab loads instantly.
- Open counter: rotates which paper appears as the research lead.
- Your focus chips: up to three topic preferences you pick.
- Welcome dismissed flag: remembers you closed the first-run tip.
Clear extension site data in Chrome to reset these values.
Permissions
- New tab override: shows FemHealth Brief when you open a new tab.
- Host permission: ebi.ac.uk: required for the live Europe PMC research feed only.
Children
FemHealth is not directed at under-16s. We do not knowingly collect children's data through the extension.
